Grandview-Southridge Stormwater Project

Problem

The Grandview-Southridge neighborhood is situated within the stormwater impaired watershed of Potash Brook. The high density residential neighborhood’s existing stormwater system consists of a stormdrain and drainage pipe network that discharges to the stream with no stormwater treatment. This neighborhood was built at a time prior to the State requiring stormwater treatment for new development. One of the existing outfalls is now significantly eroded.

Description

In 2020, the City was awarded a grant to evaluate the neighborhood and prepare an engineering design to provide stormwater treatment for the neighborhood. The City, Homeowners Association, and VHB developed designs to construct subsurface gravel wetlands, an infiltration system, a bioretention system, dry swales and an underground storage vault.
